The magic of Gleeful Peacock emerged from the alchemy of Nikki Halgren-Carpenter's imagination and determination to make the world a more colorful and loving place, starting with herself.
With backyard views of Mt. Timpanogos, Nikki's upbringing in Utah nurtured her hippy spirit, while her mother's creativity and father's business know-how gave her a solid entrepreneurial foundation.
Her wild heart took her on a teenage adventure to Hawaii to live with family, but she eventually returned home to Utah, where she was domesticated. Her life as a wife and mother brought her to Oklahoma in 2006, and she has affectionately called Tulsa home ever since.
Nikki's life path took an unexpected turn as she found herself as a single mother with an opportunity to bring her childhood dream to fruition while providing for her new family of two.
Nikki saw a blank canvas before her as she began to lean into the gift of self-discovery that comes following a significant life transition. Committed to breaking free from a generic, watered-down life, she embarked on the quest of adding color and vibrancy to her days. The evolution started with adding bright and fun pieces to her closet, good-bye beige! Clothes were the easy part; accessorizing became the challenge. After countless disappointing shopping ventures to find colorful jewelry, it was time to take matters into her own hands. Nikki scoured thrift stores and second-hand shops for metal trinkets to manipulate and paint to match her new cheerful aesthetic. It turns out she's really good at making jewelry! Like, really good.
Now that she had a creative outlet to express herself with, her next goal was one that would catapult Gleeful Peacock into the thriving business it is today: work part-time so that she could be homeroom mom for her child's 1st-grade class.
Nikki got to work painting, creating, and selling her signature pieces, and in 2009 signed up for her first craft show booth. As her booth filled with customers, one after another would pick up a piece and joyfully exclaim, "This reminds me of my mom!". In creating pieces that conjured memories of life's sweetest moments, her business mission unveiled itself: Help people get through life by simply reminding them of the good times to help them through the rough patches, colorfully.
Gleeful Peacock became her second child. Just as her family has expanded, with a new husband and stepson, so has Gleeful Peacock. The size of the business has changed, but one constant is how we still hand paint and craft our line to suit our customer's needs.
A little girl's dream of spreading love, kindness, and glee has come full circle. Gleeful Peacock's products are personal, happy, and a joy to give and receive.
We look forward to growing with you. Thank you for your patronage.
OUR GOAL: TO GIVE BACK
Nikki's genuine approach in creating wearable reminders to help people remember who they are, where they came from, and dreams for their future selves is the hallmark of Gleeful Peacock's mission. Each Reminder Token contains a mantra for life's lessons-- some born out of heartbreak and others delicious joy; each token is both profoundly personal and universal within the human experience.
We believe in the love that a handmade item carries and continue the practice of hand-painting all our pieces just as we have for the last 12 years. No two items are exactly alike. Every piece you get is one-of-a-kind.
"Nostalgia is a huge part of my inspiration, as well as color trends, vintage themes, and nature. We are always right on-trend, but it's very important to me that our designs still feel true to my vision and speak to my soul."
